Saturday Spotlight #11- KOAN Sound

This week we take a closer look at KOAN Sound, the massive duo from the U.K. who are notorious for the "funkstep" vibes.

KOAN Sound, the duo from Bristol are taking EDM by surprise as of late with their impressive blend of glitch hop, dubstep and funk. All of their tracks have incredible attnetion to detail and great production values. Consisting of Will Weeks and Jim Bastow, the two have been on the scene now for about seven years now after finding inspiration from acts such as Noisia. In early 2011, they released their debut EP, Max Out. Later that year they signed to OWSLA and released the Funk Blaster EP which was even featured in Rolling Stone. After spending the summer touring alongside Skrillex, Pretty Lights and Diplo on the Full Flex Express tour, the duo arrive at their latest EP, The Adventures of Mr. Fox. If you haven't already checked out the EP, you're seriously missing one of the best EPs of the year. With a great range in their tracks, from the smooth vibes of Sly Fox, the heavy mosh track Eastern Thug, catch vibes of 80s Fitness and the breath of fresh air, Introvert, this EP is also packed with three sweet remixes.
