This week being the first mashed Monday, I have a really big
post to kick the segment off. At noon today the mashup genius Gregory
Kantor, under the alias 5 & A Dime, dropped his fourth album and highly
anticipated sequel to last year's big success, BASSMOB. The album was titled
BASSMOB II: Return To Neverland. Last week he dropped 'Dream' from the album
and it was a crazy mashup of dubstep hits featuring a whopping nine tracks! The
album itself features all your favorite pop and edm songs cleverly intertwined
together to create something beautiful. At 11pm last night tons of people
flooded into turntable.fm to listen to the preview party of the new songs which
I unfortunately I couldn't join from Canada. However, I can honestly
say this is the biggest mashup release of the year thus far. This album is
completely insane and features so many crazy tracks that you would not ever
expect to see together. Not only does Mr. Kantor pull it all off but at the
same time adds whole new aspects to the tracks. Be sure to grab the album and
the continuous mix FOR FREE over at Kantor's SoundCloud. I can not express
enough good things about this album, there is not a single track that isn't
stunning and incredible. Check it out for yourselves.
Secondly is Madeon's latest endeavour. I'm always
excited and over the moon when I see something new from Madeon and this one is
notheing different. The 17 year old protege from France is tearing it up with
this new mix he did for a radio segment. This seems to sway slightly away from
Madeon's feel good, enlightening music ever so slightly and I love it. This 5
minute mix draws upon samples from over 70 songs! This kid has clearly got his
skills and it shows in his genius mixes. Make sure to check this one out and
hit the free download on his SoundCloud.
Moving on, this time from DJ 21azy we have a
combination of 4 artists that couldn’t be more different from each other.
Two European Progressive House producers are matched up with some
America’s most faux badass rappers (depending on who you ask).
Calvin Harris and Basto, meet Three 6 Mafia and DJ Unk.
Next up we have the latest track from Toronto mashup duo Dzeko & Torres. This week they're bringing us a big house mashup of M83's Midnight City and Daft Punk's One More Time, even throwing in some Calvin Harris and Eric Prydz.
Finally, I made a mashup yesterday that I wanted to share with the readers. It's from my upcoming albume titled Introductions: The Mixtape which drops on July 1st. I drew upon a lot of different sounds for this one including the melodic feel of Spectrum and the banger side of Go Deep.
